On those days that the birds are not cooperating, I still keep my eyes open for other things of interest.
Such was the case today resulting in this Bumble Bee on some thistle.

Bees, Goldfinch & Dragonfly
It is that time of year again to start watching the thistle for American Goldfinch feeding on them. That was the goal this afternoon, but things don’t always go as planned. While I could hear them in the area, no Goldfinch were showing up on the stretch of thistle I was watching.
There were lots of Bumble Bees cooperating though.
Eventually an American Goldfinch did show up along with another Bumble Bee. While not quite what I was after, it does make for an interesting photo.
To finish things off was this Dragonfly eating a bee.
