The challenge of late has been finding a spot to go where the fog is not. While it appeared to be clearing when I started off in Boundary Bay, it was not long before it started drifting in again. Before calling it a day,
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
… I did manage this shot of a Ruby-crowned Kinglet.
With the interesting warblers seen the other day, I headed back out to the North 40 for a brief walk this afternoon. I located some in the same spot and while watching them,
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
… this Ruby-crowned Kinglet was active in a tree behind me.
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Once again the warblers were spending most of their time high up in the trees.
Yellow-rumped Warbler
A couple of Yellow-rumped Warblers did come down a little lower. Then in the same tree as the Kinglet,
Wilson's Warbler
… the Wilson’s Warbler that had eluded me on Friday. Unfortunately I could not relocate the Townsend’s Warbler today.
A brief walk this afternoon took me back to the North 40 Park in the Boundary Bay area. It was a little livelier today with Common Yellowthroat and Yellow-rumped Warblers now present. They just were not going to cooperate and pose for me.
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Not having much luck with the warblers,
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
… I tried for the Ruby-crowned Kinglets but did not fair much better.
Cooper's Hawk
The only ones willing to pose today were the Cooper’s Hawk pair again. Here the female with prey,
Cooper's Hawk
… and not far away was the male. He actually tried mating with her, but she shrugged him off preferring to eat instead.
