{"id":5213,"date":"2018-09-09T19:55:55","date_gmt":"2018-09-10T02:55:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crazym.ca\/?p=5213"},"modified":"2018-09-09T19:57:21","modified_gmt":"2018-09-10T02:57:21","slug":"kingfisher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/crazym.ca\/?p=5213","title":{"rendered":"Belted Kingfisher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Given the weather there were not many visitors at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reifelbirdsanctuary.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reifel<\/a> this afternoon. It started off with light showers now and again, but progressed to steady rain. This also put a bit of a damper on bird activity. There were some Stilt Sandpiper and a Red-necked Phalarope in the west field.<\/p>\n<p>There were also a couple of Belted Kingfisher active in the sanctuary today. With not much else going on I started watching them to determine which snags they seemed to favour. Once deciding on one along the centre dyke, I found a spot on the opposite side of the slough with some trees for cover.
