{"id":5125,"date":"2018-06-14T16:28:41","date_gmt":"2018-06-15T00:28:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crazym.ca\/?p=5125"},"modified":"2018-06-14T16:28:41","modified_gmt":"2018-06-15T00:28:41","slug":"sandhill-cranes-colts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/crazym.ca\/?p=5125","title":{"rendered":"Sandhill Cranes + Colts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a change of pace this year the resident pair of Sandhill Cranes at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reifelbirdsanctuary.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reifel<\/a> started nesting earlier and in a new location. This spot was in an area out of bounds for visitors. Unfortunately this nest was predated and unsuccessful. Given the first attempt was earlier in the year, the pair returned to the small island in the centre display ponds that has been used for several years to try again. The first of two eggs was laid around Mother&#8217;s Day. The first colt hatched on Monday, June 11. Hopefully it will gain the strength needed to make it to the trails.
