This afternoon’s walk was to Brunswick Point which is one of my favourite spots to try and get Northern Shrike at this time of year. On starting\u00a0the stroll\u00a0out the dyke my attention was drawn to the river.<\/p>\n

\"Horned
Horned Grebe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

There was a Horned Grebe active near the old\u00a0cannery pilings,<\/p>\n

\"Double-crested
Double-crested Cormorant<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

… along with a Double-crested Cormorant fishing close to the river bank.<\/p>\n

\"Double-crested
Double-crested Cormorant<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The mouth of the river\u00a0can be a good spot to get a variety of sea birds.<\/p>\n

Northern Harrier<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

While I did not see any Shrikes, the usual Northern Harriers and Short-eared Owls were active over the marsh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
