They are everywhere it seems.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2341\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2341\" style=\"width: 398px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2341 \" title=\"Western Tent Caterpillar\" src=\"http:\/\/crazym.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Caterpillar001.jpg\" alt=\"Western Tent Caterpillar\" width=\"398\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/crazym.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Caterpillar001.jpg 398w, https:\/\/crazym.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Caterpillar001-99x150.jpg 99w, https:\/\/crazym.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Caterpillar001-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 398px) 85vw, 398px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2341\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Western Tent Caterpillar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Apparently this is a break-out year for them and such outbreaks can last multiple years. While they can defoliate trees over large areas, the trees themselves usually survive. In addition to the caterpillars today I noticed numerous white moths.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2346\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2346\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2346\" title=\"Satin Moth\" src=\"http:\/\/crazym.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Moth001b.jpg\" alt=\"Satin Moth\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/crazym.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Moth001b.jpg 600w, https:\/\/crazym.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Moth001b-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/crazym.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Moth001b-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/crazym.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Moth001b-452x300.jpg 452w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2346\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Satin Moth<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>They were Satin Moths and apparently infestations of these moths often occur together with outbreaks of Tent Caterpillars.
