There seems to be no shortage of Red-necked Phalaropes the last week or two.
They were being seen in the Boundary Bay area,
… and are still present at Reifel.
How can you not take time out to photograph these attractive birds.
This afternoon at Reifel there were five Red-necked Phalaropes in the west field.
Managed some time for a walk in the latter part of the afternoon and headed out to Reifel. A Red-necked Phalarope had been reported there the other day. After making my way out to the west field,
… it did not take too long before I located a Phalarope in with some Dowitchers.
This group of shorebirds was in fairly close to the dyke providing good viewing.
Then much to my delight a second one also appeared.
The Red-necked Phalarope are always a favourite of mine to see and photograph.
While a lot of the nesting for the season is done,
… there are still a few late bloomers.
An example being this Barn Swallow nest.
The five chicks can barely fit in and should be fledging soon.
